Gardening is a Profession
Lawn care & Gardening Require Different Skills. There is an entirely different skill set required to Maintain a Garden than to Cut Grass. 

Gardening is much more complicated and needs to be performed by professionals who have the tools and knowledge to keep your garden in optimum health.

Gardening requires knowledge of an unlimited amount of different plant life. There are perennials, annuals, bi annuals, etc. Each species will be at peak performance under various conditions. We must consider light conditions, watering needs, space, growth pattern, companion planting, flower timing, season care, toxicity, pest identification and abatement, soil medium - and the list goes on. We also must be careful we do not accidentally remove a family heirloom perennial.

Basic maintenance of an existing garden is weeding. One must be able to identify the difference between a weed and a wanted garden specimen. Once the weed is identified, it must be pulled out by the roots – different tools are designed to remove all of the root system. This takes skill – especially with larger, mature weeds.

Add-ons to basic gardening might include trimming smaller hedges & bushes, thinning perennials, edging the garden, removing an entire species or adding a new specimen. 

Lawn care basically requires maintaining grass. There is equipment required to cut the grass; this could be a push-mower, a riding mower or even a stand-up mower. 
The grass needs to be cut and in all honesty – if you have a lawnmower, you can cut the grass. Often there is also a weed trimming device to clean up the areas the mower cannot reach.

Add-ons might include weed control, fertilizer and pest control. These are generally taken care of by distributing a solid or liquid substance to the lawn. There are different mediums depending on what is required to keep the lawn healthy and green.
